10 Cool Things About Winter Sex – Get Frisky While It’s Frosty

Once the snow starts falling, that doesn’t mean things need to cool off between the sheets. In fact, winter sex affords many fun opportunities and benefits.

Here are some ideas, tips, and “did you know”s that will either spark your interest or libido.

WEARING SOCKS IS OKAY

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that us ladies hold the icy chill of death in our feet and our bed buddies make delightful warm devices. But, did you know it’s easier for women to have orgasms when their feet are warm?

So, while any other season might make it weird to wear socks while getting frisky, winter makes it a completely acceptable practice. Extra points if they are Christmas themed (I would go for the red and white striped candy cane ones).

IT HELPS YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM

If you’ve done any reading on the general benefits of sex, you might have read that the slew of hormones and other chemicals that are released are beneficial to your immune system. This means that during the height of flu season, sex is going the extra mile to keep you healthy.

CUDDLES INCREASE

In summer, having your lover close might bring on heat stroke. Chilly weather, however, brings people closer – aka. body heat. Hence the great chance for cuddles. It also doesn’t have to be a post-coital embrace. You can just snuggle.

HOT WATER SEX HELPS

This one is a bit tricky – long story short … sex in water really isn’t good for you (read this article for the details). BUT, out of all the aquatic options, steamy shower sex is your best bet. Warm up and do your thing (as long as you can afford the water and power bill).

YOU HAVE TO GO SLOWER

There’s no passionate ripping of clothes and rolling over the bedsheets. Winter sex becomes a slower, more careful, maneuvering so nothing pops out of the blankets and catches a chill.

Use the season to work on your slow-burn sex – ramp up the foreplay, take time exploring your lover, and turn up the heat.

HEATING MATS ARE YOUR FRIEND

Some people will never be warm enough – even with all the body heat in the world. The solution? Heated bedding!

This means mattress covers or blankets that make things all toasty. If you can afford it, be kind to your partner and get the ones that have separate temperature controls for either side.

IT’S THE PERFECT TIME FOR HEAT PLAY

If you’ve never tried temperature play, now is the time! While summer has its ice, winter has so many warm choices to tease your partner with.  One example – warming massage oil. Hint, hint. Or, if you are more versed in the world of kink, perhaps start educating yourself on wax play.

These articles have plenty of details…

CANDLES BECOME MULTIPURPOSE

Pillars and tealights not only provide sexy ambiance, in winter they give an extra dose of much-needed warmth. Just make sure you know your fire and candle safety. We want sexual flames, not house ones.

LUBE IS A MUST

There are some ladies that experience personal dryness – meaning their vagina doesn’t lube up as much as it should (for comfortable sex). But, in winter, women in general experience a dip on personal wetness. This occurs because the weather becomes drier and things are colder (remember what I said earlier about sock and orgasms?).

So, if you want to partake in winter sex, do your lady a favor and break out her favorite lube.

NOTE: There are warming lubes, BUT they can contain chemicals that might cause irritation. Always do a spot test and wait 48 hours to see what happens.

OUTDOOR SEX IS A DIFFERENT BEAST

You’ve heard about outdoor sex and all the tips about how to make it fun … and not ending up arrested or displaying your genitals to non-consensual onlookers.  Well, there are highly adventurous couples that actually like to go out into a winter wonderland and get busy.

Personally, I find it madness that anyone would whip out any sensitive body part when there’s a wind chill. However, if it sounds like your cup of tea, the good news is there are fewer people out and about to catch you.

Just make sure to plan well ahead of time, because it’s can’t be as spontaneous as the summer counterpart – dress appropriately, use a lube applicator or longer-lasting vaginal moisturizer, a waterproof sheet if you want to get on the ground. And make it fast.
