Beginner’s Guide to Metal Bondage Toys

This is a short but “sweet” article. Something brief but pervy enough to wet your kinky whistle…

So, if you’re asking “what is metal bondage?” the answer is simple… something that restrains a person to some degree and is made primarily of (duh) metal – preferably stainless steel.

Just like I can say Velcro bondage or leather bondage, there are many materials for you to choose from.

Metal is quite popular for many reasons…

  • It’s very strong and therefore more restrictive
  • It’s insanely durable
  • It has a heaviness some people love
  • You can use it for temperature play
  • Some people just love the feeling in general
  • It’s easy to clean and sterilize
  • If you can imagine it, you can probably find it in metal

Why do you need to be careful? The cheap stuff.

Yes, Aliexpress is tempting and that 10-dollar anal hook feels nice and warm within your financial budget. However, you often get what you pay for. Some of the cheap stuff is just nickel-plated (which some people can be allergic to).

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for getting the inexpensive stuff to experiment with, but if you find you and/or your partner(s) loving it and using it a lot, it’s very much worth investing in the good stuff.

What’s the good stuff?

Medical grade stainless steel – yes, the stuff they use in hospitals.

Buuuuut, you also need to pay attention to other materials that are part of the toy – leather, plastic, wood, etc. (if any). Make sure those are good quality too.

Where to get the good stuff?

Well, not Amazon and probably not Etsy, that’s for sure. I’ll post some links below, but it will take some surfing and research to find reliable sellers. You can also find it under “dungeon iron, BDSM irons, BDSM metal, metal bondage” etc.

What kind of stuff can I get?

Ooph. Okay, well here we go….

  • Anal hooks
  • Cock cages
  • Female chastity belts
  • Breast torture camps
  • Clothespins
  • Nipple clamps
  • Handcuffs
  • Spreader bars
  • Yokes
  • Dildos
  • Butt plugs
  • Shackles
  • Collars
  • Fist mitts
  • Lip and tongue pressers
  • Confinement Bras
  • Switches (instead of wood)
  • Bondage locks
  • Full body cages
  • Mouth gags
  • Urethral sounds
  • Medical play devices
  • Head cages

The list goes ON and ON, and my hand is cramping from typing the list 😛  Plus, some shops will even make items special to order however you want and wherever your imagination goes.

So it’s really cleanable?

It’s one of the few things I think can be safely used with other people. It can be soaked in HOT water, put in the dishwasher, sterilized with rubbing alcohol or diluted bleach, put in a UV germ killer, etc.

However, if there ends up with lots of bodily fluids, make sure to clean ALL nooks and crannies. Also, if there are other materials like leather, it changes the game and you might not be able to share it with several people (leather is porous).

Stainless steel is certainly a very sexy material for all the reasons you mentioned above. I just wanted to add that when experimenting with metal restraints be very careful not to close those cuffs too much … that pain is not sexy at all!
