25 Hookup Apps For Finding A Casual Sex Buddy or One Night Stand

All you have to do is type in “hookup” into whatever app store you have and watch the results pile up and clog up your phone thicker than your bathroom sink.

There are so many, that the main issue isn’t finding casual sex options, it’s finding one that’s right for you.

NOTE: Click here if you want to skip straight to the app list.

IMPORTANT THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW

1. SCAMS AND FAKE ACCOUNTS

With such a big market, there is the inevitable percent that just ends up a pile of lies or hotties that don’t exist.  User experiences will also vary from app to app, so just be careful and keep this in the back of your mind. This is also why it’s a good idea to do extensive research on anything that asks for your credit card.

2. PAY TO PLAY CATCHES

It’s not only online gaming that makes money this way.

Many dating sites offer FREE sign-ups, but then they make you pay if you want anything past the bare-bones services  – some even block the ability to contact matches until you shell out for a membership.

3. PAY VS FREE OPTIONS

Paying for the ability to find hookups is not necessarily a bad thing – it tends to weed out the ones that aren’t as serious, and the money can go into adding extra benefits and features etc.

Free ones, on the other hand, might be more chaotic and less professional. but they are a great way to see if the app-avenue suits you before you decide to hand over your hard-earned cash. Which you prefer is up to you.

4. FACEBOOK SIGN-UPS

These are a double-edged sword.

The fact you’re using the app is to usually keep it a secret from your friends, but it’s that friends list that sometimes helps generate possible matches – which might not give you many options if you’ve already dredged that river.

5. LEVELS OF LEWDNESS

Each site has its own level of raunchiness – especially the BDSM or kink-themed ones. Be prepared for all spectrums.

6. DATING VS HOOKUP AND GREY AREAS

There’s nothing wrong with either kind (each person has their own pace and style). However, there is a small percentage of users who confuse these platforms.

This is when you find comments like “I want to destroy your pussy” on Tinder and “let’s hang out and get to know each other” on iHookUp.

You should know why you are there and what you want.

7. SIGN UP QUESTIONS

If you find yourself in the middle of an enormous questionnaire that’s asking you everything from sleeping positions to favorite drinks, endure and complete it!

The more details you give the more compatible matches you will get.

HOOK UP APPS

These are MEANT to find people who are of the same mindset towards casual encounters.

Keep in mind you’ll find a mix of people who just want to date and some who are into various levels of kink.

Be clear about what YOU are looking for, so you can weed out the ones that will be a waste of time.

DOWN encourages people to be honest and upfront about what they want. Swipe up for a date. Swipe down just for sex. Don’t expect much international flavor because the language support is just “meh.”

FEELD (3nder) After a lawsuit from Tinder, they rebranded, but it’s pretty much tinder … for threesomes. You can connect with singles or couples and choose from over 20 sexualities.

It’s as anonymous as you want it to be (including names). Just make sure to set your profile so that any Facebook friends using the same app won’t see you … or see you.

PURE is no muss, no fuss. Pairings come from mutual attraction and you arrange a place to meet. The rest of the interactions come from talking to the person in real life.

Not the best idea for people who want to vet their dates. Bonus: they erase data and limit chat after an hour, so you don’t have to deal with people you don’t want to.

DISCKREET isn’t necessarily something to help you find a partner, but it does let you share dirty photos safely. Two encrypted passcodes protect your nudes and decrease the chances of leaked or revenge images.

WHIPLR advertises as a messenger for kinksters with “loosey-goosey” sexual orientation. Video chats, group or private chats, and photo competitions make this place a mecca for getting down and dirty.

MATCH is the cleaner version of XMatch. The sign-up is REALLY long (40 minutes) but it’s worth it because if “just sex” is your goal (and you’re honest and respectful about it) the amazing compatibility algorithm will find you matches better than most competitors.

iHOOK UP  has the unique aspect of personalized reports (based on how many of the profiles questions you answer) that tell you a bit about your dating, romantic, and sexual tendencies. NOTE: This is for computers only … no phones.

ADULT FRIEND FINDER is quite dirty, so don’t be under any illusions of what you’re getting into. Since the sign up is pretty vague, it’s harder to find compatible matches. You also need to pay to interact.

XMATCH is part of the Friend Finder network, this one requires a pretty lengthy sign up of 20 minutes (if you answer all the questions). Then there is a 100-point test that measures your naughtiness or purity. This can be kept private or public if you want more compatible matches from the large member base.

FRIEND FINDER claims to be a place for the average Joe/Jane to spice things up. Free to register as a single or a couple but to get all the bells and whistles, you’ll have to pay. It’s worth mentioning that the Finder networks could result in duplicated profiles. Not a huge deal.

DATE HOOK UP is clear as you can get. Your free ad profile can be public or private – with just your first name and age visible if you want.

These probably won’t get you hookups quickly, but they do exist. They are better for people who like a decent amount of vetting in order to find someone they are compatible or comfortable to be FWB.

TINDER. Everyone knows Tinder. Swipe, swipe, swipe, hope a human swipes too, and write something that doesn’t make you sound like a douche bag pervert while still making it clear you just want to hook up.

GRINDR is Tinder for gay men. Sorry, ladies. One Grinder tips site suggests that you never give out your real phone number (duh).

However, if you want to call someone, have a “trick phone” on hand – the one with a different number not connected to your name, and something you can charge with by-the-minute time.

HER is for lesbian, queen, and bisexual women. Sorry, dudes. The advice for success on this app is the same as any other hook-up app – don’t come across as desperate, give lots of images to give a well-rounded image of you and your world etc.

TINGLE. You don’t have to give out your initial location until you’re comfortable, which is good for safety. However, there isn’t a big user base compared to other apps, it might take a bit more time to find a good match.

BUMBLE is like Tinder (but not). Women make the rules and determine contact. Also, it’s not a “keep swiping right” until you get a match. You’ll have better success rates if you take the time to read what things you have in common.

COFFEE MEETS BAGEL. The naming conventions in this one might put some people off, but it does offer an interesting twist. Matches are served up once a day at noon and you have a limited time to show interests. Women also hold more control over the conversations.

KLIQUE is focused on group dates and the understanding that people on both sides can bring friends. Therefore, it’s not a straight-up sexy-time option (unless one of those options is to hook up, maybe with friends?)  Make sure you attend meet-ups with a similar frame of mind – or you might be called out quickly.

BLENDR is a bit of a gray area. It started with the intention of being a way to find casual sex, but the user base used it more for dating (which can be a major source of frustration). It uses GPS to connect you to singles in your area who have the same interests. If those interests are sex, you’re set.

PLENTY OF FISH. POF is another middle ground app for dating vs. casual options for those wanting to try things out without paying an expensive monthly fee (or just go cheap in general). And even though it’s a place for casual encounters (and sign up takes 30 minutes), it’s not as good as other options.

SKOUT. The site screams “dating app”. There are also reports of crash bugs. And, the site caught some heat in the past because they didn’t filter minors from using their app and bad things happened – I heard they fixed it though. The shake function looks cool. Just another choice to check out.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

In this pile of options, there should be at least one in there that works for you. If not, there are MANY more out there.
