Before we dive in, it’s important to remind all of you wonderful readers that no one on this end (even me) is a medical professional. This is just a comprehensive mountain of information for the sake of curiosity or for those wanting to know more before talking to a doctor. So, Exactly What is a Penis Extender?

It’s “a mechanical, traction device that stretches the human penis in the flaccid state to make it longer.”  Designs vary depending on the manufacturer, but the general premise is the same.

1. The Base or Attachment System – This is the part that secures the entire thing to the base of the shaft, sometimes called the “basal ring”.

The idea is based on cell duplication – “a natural biological process that leads to muscular hypertrophy.” Think of when you work out. The strain on the muscles causes microscopic tears and then our bodies make more cells to repair the rips. This is how we build muscle.

Penis Extenders for Peyronie’s Disease

A boiled-down definition of Peyronie’s Disease (pay-roe-NEEZ) is “curved penis.” And not in a small way (meaning it’s normal to have a bit of a curve). It’s a buildup of scar tissue, causing the penis to bend or curve during erections. This scar tissue interferes with the flexibility and stretching of the tissues in that area.

Some people don’t even notice their symptoms until they have an erection. Then they could have erectile dysfunction, lumps in the penis, “waist-like or narrowed bottleneck areas” during erections, or pain. Other symptoms can include the shortening of the member or deformities.

Studies On Penile Traction Devices

There have been some studies around this device when it comes to giving guys more in the downstairs department. One study showed some promising preliminary results. After a group of men wore an extender for three months for 4-6 hours a day, they found the average length was longer by 1.5 cm.

In a 2015 study, 193 men wore a penis extender for 4-6 hours daily for a period of 6 months. After that time, the researchers found a mean increase between 0.9 and 2.5 cm (0.3-0.9″) in flaccid penis length.

According to a new 2020 systematic review of studies examining penis lengthening methods, extenders were able to increase flaccid penis length by less than 2 cm (0.7″).

On the other hand, some experts have accused some studies of being biased in picking their test subjects to gain the results they specifically wanted.

So, all in all, there’s no real answer in the “yes” category. There’s still so much research going on and more to be had before anyone knows the benefits and risks that come with using a penis extender to make yourself bigger.

Risks, Benefits, & Drawbacks

Remember, I’m no doctor. But in terms of having a longer and thicker penis, these devices should be relatively safer than the other stuff out there – like the BS pills and creams.

But remember not every penis extender out there is built safely. Some might end up hurting you. So, do your research and please talk to your doctor first. At least they can tell you if the one you want is safe and give you directions on how to use it the right way.

Risks of penis extenders include:

• Bruising
• Nerve damage
• Blood clots
• Broken blood vessels
• Fractured penis
• Discomfort or pain during use
• Skin irritation
• Numbness or cold flesh
• Conditions like hemophilia, incontinence, or a history of surgeries may increase your risk of injury

The best way to minimize your risk is to:

• Avoid applying traction that you can’t handle.
• Don’t use it for longer/more frequently than specified in your manufacturer’s instructions.

• You Might be Disappointed – These things don’t always work. Not everyone will get even the few centimeters these things advertise.

Well, the best way would be to talk to a doctor (and yes, I’m going to beat this point home until everyone’s bum is sore). But here are some general tips that most sites agree on…

• Never use traction you can’t handle.
• Don’t use it for longer/more frequently than the manufacturer’s instructions.
• If something feels wrong, listen to your body, and stop.
• Never use one overnight or aggressively.
• Don’t expect immediate results.
• Never stretch with an erect penis. It should always be flaccid.

Outcomes should be measured in months, not days or weeks. The first growth/gain in the first month will only be millimeters.  It’s going to take at least 2-3 months to see something. Some people use them for 5-6 months to try to gain an inch. But all of this varies depending on the person. As I mentioned above, there might be zero changes.

Did you know the average flaccid penis is 9.16 cm (3.61 inches) in length? And the average erect penis is 13.12 cm (5.16 inches) long. All this bragging by other guys or what people see in porn can be very damaging to guys’ mindsets.
