How Elvira Lost Her Virginity To Tom Jones … And Not In A Great Way

Stories of losing your virginity are aplenty. But this one is particularly interesting … and painful and somewhat sad.

When Cassandra Peterson was 17, she was inspired by Ann-Margret in Viva Las Vegas. Does the name sound familiar? No? You might also know her as the horror icon Elvira – Mistress of the Dark.

Yep. Our big boobed dark goddess.

It was no surprise that when a school trip took her to Nevada, she begged her parents to let her watch a life show. It was there that production staff noticed her and she signed a contract.

There was a whirlwind of excitement, including dating Elvis for a brief moment. But it was after meeting singer Tom Jones that she really fell in love/lust. You know, the guy that sang “It’s Not Unusual” and “What’s New Pussycat?”

The Welsh crooner was well known for hooking up with his groupies (upwards of 250 in a year at his peak). He loved going after beautiful women, despite being married and his wife attacking him after she found out.

Still, he protruded an air of allure that many women fell for, including Cassandra.

One night she decided that she was going to lose her virginity to this man. After all, he was charming, and English gentleman, and quite handsom.

But as the event started, she realized it was nothing like she had imagined.

Aside from being very well endowed, she found out that he was very rough in bed, even with virgins.

Elvira explains, “Tom seemed gentlemanly and nice, so when he was jumping on me…I thought, ‘Well, if I’m ever gonna do this, it might as well be with Tom Jones. I ended up with a little tearing, a little bleeding and going to the hospital. I had to get stitches. It was painful and horrible.”

She adds, “I thought for sure we were gonna run away together and get married. I went backstage to see him the next night, but he was with his two background singers… and was all over them. I was disgusted.”

Her regret was not losing her virginity to Presley. “Elvis was constantly surrounded by his entourage [“The Memphis Mafia”], and I was only 17, and I’m sure they knew it.”

The Mistress of the Dark moved on, probably to be the first of many men and probably women – and treating them with far more care and respect.
