Here are some fun, weird, or surprising things I&#8217;ve found (and a couple of gross ones).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:19px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color\" style=\"color:#d70072\"><span style=\"font-size: 26px;\"><b>A WORLD OF JUNK<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>This isn\u2019t really a surprise. We\u2019ve all seen the stuff sold in joke stores or sex shops. But what you might not know is just HOW MUCH crap is out there and sold under the \u201cnovelty\u201d loophole. It runs all the way from irresponsible design to dangerous materials or additives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li style=\"margin-top: 0cm; margin-right: 0cm; margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;\">Jelly is the devil<\/li><li style=\"margin-top: 0cm; margin-right: 0cm; margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;\">Anal toys need a safe base<\/li><li style=\"margin-top: 0cm; margin-right: 0cm; margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;\">Vibrators need extra love<\/li><li style=\"margin-top: 0cm; margin-right: 0cm; margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;\">You often get what you pay for<\/li><li style=\"margin-top: 0cm; margin-right: 0cm; margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;\">The packaging often tells you plenty<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:19px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color\" style=\"color:#d70072\"><span style=\"font-size: 26px;\"><b>YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2026Sometimes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019ve seen both sides of the coin. There are inexpensive toys that are surprisingly good. And there are high-end toys that aren\u2019t worth the money at all. But, even with the markups, it\u2019s very often a case of (as mentioned above) \u201cgetting what you pay for\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, if you\u2019ve spent $5.99 on a vibrator, don\u2019t expect miracles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:19px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color\" style=\"color:#d70072\"><span style=\"font-size: 26px;\"><b>FALSE KEGEL BALL PROMISES<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>Okay, it might not bother most people, but I HATE when kegel balls are sold with the promise of \u201cwill give you amazing orgasms\u201d and improve your sex life \u2013 all because of a weighted ball that rolls around in the casing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is highly inaccurate (at least in the way the information is delivered). Remember, the balls themselves DON\u2019T give you orgasms. They are mean to help you isolate and exercise your pelvic muscles. This, in turn, improves their strength and therefore MIGHT give you stronger orgasms (because it\u2019s the clenching that gives that feeling).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But it\u2019s not always about the climax.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They are used for health reasons \u2013 post-pregnancy care, bladder control issues, loss of elasticity with age, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:19px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color\" style=\"color:#d70072\"><span style=\"font-size: 26px;\"><b>HYGIENE IS LACKING<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>You must wash your toys before AND after each use. I\u2019m shocked just how many people don\u2019t bother.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Even if you leave them in a baggie, you should be washing them with mild soap and warm water regularly. Materials can collect dust, spots can be missed, temperature can affect things, the bag might need cleaning, and the drawer might be dirty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:19px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color\" style=\"color:#d70072\"><span style=\"font-size: 26px;\"><b>FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS!<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>Throwing your little booklets in the garbage can end up being very expensive in the long run. There are key details that the manufacturer puts in there for a reason \u2013 whether for the life span of the toy or for safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A good example is rechargeable toys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You NEVER use the toy while it\u2019s plugged in. And always recharge if fully every 6 months (if you\u2019re not using it during that time). These two things alone will save your toy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:19px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color\" style=\"color:#d70072\"><span style=\"font-size: 26px;\"><b>UNCLEANED RETURNS<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>The poor people in the returns department have to wear gloves because far too many toys are returned after use \u2026 and uncleaned. Including anal toys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PLEASE, wash them before you send them back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:19px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color\" style=\"color:#d70072\"><span style=\"font-size: 26px;\"><b>WE NEED MORE TRANS TOYS<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>I did an article on trans toys recently and found there really weren\u2019t enough out there. I\u2019ve seen a few really cool models, but these products are like any other sex toy \u2013 every body is different, so you need a variety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One company might make an FtM toy one way, but a different company might alter it. It\u2019s the same idea with the g-spot and prostate massagers. No one hole is the same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:19px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color\" style=\"color:#d70072\"><span style=\"font-size: 26px;\"><b>THE CUSTOMER BASE IS DIVERSE<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>There are far too many stereotypes about the seedy store with people jerking off to the DVD covers in the back room. Many stores now are more open, welcoming, and even boutique-like. Couple that with online sales and you have a lot of different people buying sex toys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Even in the countries or states that ban them, there are still ways to get them. Your doctor, pastor, lawyer, cleaning lady, dog walker, and burger flipper probably have one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:19px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color\" style=\"color:#d70072\"><span style=\"font-size: 26px;\"><b>THE OFFICE IS VERY QUIET<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>You might think working in a sex toy company would be lots of action and craziness. But, in fact, it\u2019s just as quiet as any office. Programmers, marketing, customer service reps \u2026 all of them are plugging away on their computers. Our office would usually be dead quiet with the occasional giggle or muffled sound of a meeting in a far room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aside from making sure all interviewees understand what kind of company they are working for, everyone becomes very chill about all the toys and pics of naked people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:19px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color\" style=\"color:#d70072\"><span style=\"font-size: 26px;\"><b>THERE ARE WHITE BRANDS<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>Yep. Some nameless manufacturer or lube creator could be distributing their wares to companies, which, in turn, slap their label on the box and sell it. But if you want a good toy \u2013 something targeted, properly made, or innovative, there are lots of steps that have to be taken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Patent research<\/li><li>Research and prototype design<\/li><li>Initial testing<\/li><li>Redesign<\/li><li>More testing<\/li><li>Sometimes the feedback and redesign stages can loop for a long while<\/li><li>Launch preparation<\/li><li>Plus a dozen or so small steps in between these big ones.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:19px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0099;\"><strong>Want more interesting articles?
