Let’s start off by saying that VEGAN sex toy awareness isn’t necessarily the same as ECO-FRIENDLY. It can definitely have some cross over, but there are a few extra things to keep in mind before you buy. Here are some things to keep in mind before you hit the \u201cbuy\u201d button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SEX TOY MATERIALS<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This one is a bit of a no brainer and often one of the first things people think of when they want to go vegan in as many aspects of their life as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

GLASS<\/strong> <\/span>\u2013 As long as it\u2019s made properly with the right kind of glass. Also, be aware of color additives. Learn more about glass sex toys here.<\/a><\/strong><\/u><\/p>\n\n\n\n

WOOD<\/strong> <\/span>\u2013 Needs to be sealed so it\u2019s nonporous. Make sure the sealant is body-safe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SILICONE<\/strong> <\/span>\u2013 If the seller knows that none of the additives or materials used in the silicone were not animal tested, you\u2019re good to go. It\u2019s also easier to clean<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PLASTIC<\/strong> <\/span>\u2013 Yes, no animals were harmed to make the plastic toy\/object (hopefully), BUT in my opinion, the biodegradable aspects do lend to possible harming of animal habitats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

STAINLESS STEEL<\/strong><\/span> \u2013 Medical grade is best if you can afford it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LUBES<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lubricants are tricky because you need them to be body-safe, Ph-balanced depending on vaginal or anal use, and a balanced osmolality. But, even with all those parameters, you can still get vegan sex lubes. Sliquid is one of my favorites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MASSAGE OILS<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Take what you read about lubes and bring it over to massage oils. Make sure that none of the products have been animal-tested \u2013 the easy way to know is to look at the company branding, image, or packaging. It should be printed clearly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CONDOMS & DAMS<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The obvious one to avoid is lambskin (intestines), but did you know that regular latex condoms have an ingredient that comes from milk? The derivative protein is used to smooth and silken the condom. Instead, go for vegan or latex-free condoms and dental dams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ACCESSORIES & CLOTHING<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n

If you want to get into collars, floggers, clothing, etc., this is another category that will limit your options \u2013 especially since leather is one of the big go-to’s. Instead, try these\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FAKES<\/strong> <\/span>– Leather (pleather), feathers, silks, etc. Nylon or other synthetics will also be ok (if they are cruelty-free in their additive\/dye testing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

RECYCLED<\/strong> <\/span>\u2013 I like anything recycled into new uses \u2013 e.g. tires into rubber floggers or paddles. It might not directly relate to vegan, but it sure goes a long way to helping the planet the animals live on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

COMPANIES<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are many companies out there proudly announcing their vegan options. If you\u2019re not sure where to start, simply Google \u201cvegan sex toys\u201d and you\u2019ll land with a list of sellers you can browse through. \u201cLeaf\u201d is one example \u2013 they make simple, elegant sex toys based on plant life shapes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
