You might dream of an entire body wrap of therapeutic tape, but it would be more efficient and cost-effective to do it in bondage tape or even packing tape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

STRETCH<\/strong><\/span> \u2013 Some products stretch. Some don\u2019t. This is important to test because if you\u2019re using it as restraints, it might be easy for your partner to wiggle out of OR it could cause circulation problems or bruising if stretched too tight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BREATHABILITY<\/strong><\/span> \u2013 Most often, the medical stuff will breathe (because it\u2019s meant to stay on the skin for a while). But other products will trap any sweat and moisture. This means you might only need one or two layers to get the result you want (like one layer for a mouth gag). But thinner or softer tapes probably need more than one layer (think packing tape) if you want to restrain someone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

GLUE & TOXICITY<\/strong><\/span> \u2013 Stronger glue doesn\u2019t always mean \u201cgood\u201d. It can damage the skin, cause allergic reactions, rip off furniture finishes, and leave a residue. STRIPPING<\/strong><\/span> \u2013 The glue is FAR too strong and pulls OFF layers skin when you remove the tape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TENSION INJURY<\/strong> <\/span>\u2013 The skin is pulled with the tape and blisters, tears, or other injuries might appear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ALLERGIC REACTION<\/strong><\/span> \u2013 People can be sensitive to the adhesives or have bad reactions to certain tapes. It can also vary from brand to brand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FOLLICLE INFLAMMATION<\/strong> <\/span>\u2013 Hair removal can sometimes leave the follicle open, or hair gets pulled out by the tape. The chemicals in the glue or bacteria can get into the follicle and cause irritation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MACERATION<\/strong><\/span> \u2013 Ever leave a Band-Aid on your finger too long and the skin turned white? That\u2019s maceration. It makes the skin more delicate and easier to injure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CIRCULATION<\/strong><\/span> \u2013 Pulling tape too tightly can cut off blood flow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BRUISING<\/strong><\/span> \u2013 Tension\/pressure against the skin can cause bruising. The chances of bruising will increase with how much the tape can stretch or how much \u201crough play\u201d you might want to do in a session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BREATHING PROBLEMS<\/strong> \u2013<\/span> For example, if someone has asthma, a mouth gag could be a problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MENTAL STATE<\/strong> <\/span>\u2013 Whether it\u2019s a simple wrist tie or complete mummification, being bound and restrained can cause discomfort, panic, or trigger old\/new trauma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also, there are certain points on the body where the nerves sit closer to the surface of the skin.
