Gross yeah, but you should know what you&#8217;re dealing with.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:21px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color\" style=\"color:#d70072\"><span style=\"font-size: 26px;\"><strong>WHAT IS A YEAST INFECTION?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>Candida is a strain of yeast that\u2019s naturally found on the human body \u2013 particularly on moist skin or glands (which is why it loves the vagina).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s usually kept in check by good bacteria that live in the same area and feeds off the yeast. When in balance, you won\u2019t even know it\u2019s there. However, when this balance is upset, the yeast grows unchecked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:21px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color\" style=\"color:#d70072\"><span style=\"font-size: 26px;\"><strong>THE FORMS OF THE INFECTION<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The most common strain is <strong>Candida albicans<\/strong>, but there are other types such as <em>C. glabrata<\/em><em>,&nbsp;C. parapsilosis,&nbsp;C. tropicalis, and&nbsp;C. krusei,<\/em> which are less common.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>If you get this infection in your mouth, it\u2019s called <strong>Thrush<\/strong> (or oral candidiasis).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>If you get it on your skin it\u2019s called <strong>Cutaneous candidiasis<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>If you get it on your penis (glans) it\u2019s called <strong>Candidal\/Candida balanitis<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>If it\u2019s on your foreskin, it\u2019s called <strong>Candidal balanoposthitis.<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:21px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color\" style=\"color:#d70072\"><span style=\"font-size: 26px;\"><strong>WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>If it affects the glans\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Burning and itching around the penis<\/li><li>Pain while you pee or have sex<\/li><li>Redness and swelling<\/li><li>Light colored, shiny patches of skin on the penis<\/li><li>Red rash in and around the penis&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0099;\"><strong>SIDE NOTE:<\/strong><\/span> You might think that the \u201citching\u201d isn\u2019t a big deal, but it can get BAD. So bad you want to tear your penis off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:21px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>If it affects the foreskin\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><span style=\"background-color: white;\">A thick, lumpy discharge under the foreskin<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"background-color: white;\">An unpleasant odor of the foreskin<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"background-color: white;\">Difficulty pulling back your foreskin<\/span><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"background-color: white;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0099;\"><strong>NOTE:<\/strong> <\/span>Don\u2019t confuse this with \u201cdick cheese\u201d. It\u2019s not the same.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:21px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color\" style=\"color:#d70072\"><span style=\"font-size: 26px;\"><strong>HOW CAN MEN GET IT?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>There are several ways\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Unprotected sex<\/strong> \u2013 with a woman who has a yeast infection.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Extended antibiotic use <\/strong>\u2013 they can kill the good bacteria that keeps the yeast in check.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Being uncircumcised<\/strong> \u2013 warmer, moister, and easier to grow the yeast.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Type 2 diabetes<\/strong> \u2013 yeast feeds off sugar and T2D has plenty of sugar spikes.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>HIV status \u2013 <\/strong>due to the compromised immune defenses.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Poor hygiene \u2013 <\/strong>not washing your genitals enough lets the yeast build up.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Clothing and detergent<\/strong> \u2013 wearing tight clothing restricts air flow (which is bad) and some detergents can irritate your skin (and glans).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:21px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color\" style=\"color:#d70072\"><span style=\"font-size: 26px;\"><strong>TREATING A MALE YEAST INFECTION<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>Prevention goes a long way by keeping clean, having safe sex, avoid sex when one of you is infected, and watching what you wash your clothes with. If you do end up getting it, there are over the counter and prescription creams or pills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"background-color: white;\"><strong>MICONAZOLE <\/strong>\u2013 Topical antifungal cream\/spray <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"background-color: white;\"><strong>CLOTRIMAZOL <\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 Topical cream for the treatment of fungal growths on the skin<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"background-color: white;\"><strong>DIFLUCAN <\/strong>\u2013 A prescription pill that\u2019s taken once and is good for persistent infections<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"background-color: white;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0099;\"><strong>NOTE:<\/strong><\/span> Don\u2019t bother with antibiotics. They\u2019ll only make the infection worse.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"background-color: white;\">You can try home\/natural remedies, but keep in mind that there isn\u2019t any evidence to show they work (although there\u2019s no evidence to support than they don\u2019t).<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"background-color: white;\">Yoghurt (with zero sugar) and Oil of Oregano have antifungal properties and can be applied to the skin (never internally).
